The various disciplines of the sport industry are so vast, that given the perfect mix of passion, opportunity, determination, and planning one can tailor-make any career path to revolve around sport. St. John's University Alumni Emmanuel Emery, has done just this. The beauty of his career path is that it’s somewhat replicable; his journey involved more strategy than luck, and can therefore serve as a blue print for anyone aspiring towards a career in sports law.

Emery has been passionate about sport since he was a child, when he played in various junior soccer teams. He also became acquainted with the business of sport and sports events at an early age, as a coordinator of cycling tours and hockey tournaments.

He played competitive soccer for years before seizing the opportunity to a found of a Swiss major futsal club. Determined to establish a successful niche in sport, he simultaneously graduated from law school in Switzerland. In 2015 Emery solidified his plans for a career in sport, by earning a Master of professional studies in sport management at St. John's University.

"Today, I am an attorney at law specialized in sports law. Having been an athlete myself it is a great satisfaction to be involved on a daily basis in sports business either by being at the court for litigation matters or by advising clients for sponsorship/endorsement contracts or commercial matters.

I work on substantial commercial and sports deals for a wide range of clients, including high net worth individuals and top-tier luxury brands companies. I also advise and represent the interests of my clients, namely big-names players, athletes, sports federations and organizations as well as renowned sports management companies, on sports law, sponsorship, marketing and other sports-related commercial contracts."

Emery's position as a lawyer, is essential for the navigation of legal issues faced by stakeholders in the sports industry. TV rights-deals, sports betting and modern-day amateurism are but only a handful of legally charged concepts that are relevant to today’s sporting ecosystem. We look forward to following Emmanuel Emery’s career as he further establishes himself as a house hold name in Switzerland’s sports scene.
