St. John’s to Host Lux Aeterna in Concert on October 25

Epsilon Kappa, St. John’s Chapter of Sigma Delta Pi, the Fundación Miguel  Hernández,  the Department of Languages and Literatures, and many other institutions will present Lux Aeterna, a  unique concert to commemorate the 75th anniversary of the passing of Miguel Hernández during the Spanish Civil War. On the wall of his hospital room, shortly before his death, he wrote: “…Let me take leave of the sun and the fields.” Among many of the poems he wrote in jail as a political prisoner are “Nana de la cebolla,”  “El potro oscuro,” and  “El hogar en el árbol.”
 
Miguel Hernández’s poetry, put to music by Rafael Lozano, the talented director of Lux Aeterna group, will be presented.

 Dr. Gazarian, the Moderator of Epsilon Kappa, said, “that this event, a first in New York, is a beautiful tribute to honor the memory of Miguel Hernández.  The performance of the singers and musicians, coming especially from Spain in celebration of his works, will be unforgettable.”  
New York based poets, students and invited guests will take part in the event.
