MarCom Awards Honor St. John’s Marketing Efforts
October 18, 2017

St. John’s University has earned recognition once again for the quality of its print and digital publications, as its Office of Marketing and Communications was honored six times in the 2017 MarCom Awards.

“With so much competition in the higher education marketplace for highly qualified students, it is important for St. John’s University to differentiate itself from other institutions,” said Christian P. Vaupel, Ed.D., Vice President for Advancement and University Relations. “This recognition confirms that we are doing a very good job of that.”

The May 2017 edition of The President’s Newsletter earned MarCom’s highest prize—the Platinum Award—in the Print Media/Publications–External Newsletter, Educational Institution category. The digital edition of the newsletter also was honored, earning the Gold Award for Digital Media–E-Communication.

The annual MarCom Awards honor excellence in marketing and communications. MarCom is administered by the Association of Marketing and Communication Professionals. This year, the Association received approximately 6,000 entries from both for-profit and not-for-profit institutions.

St. John’s also received Gold MarCom awards for the University’s “Opportunity Awaits You” web video and the “#HumansofStJohns” digital media feature.

Honorable Mention was given to St. John’s for its web video profile of Joseph De Jesus '16C, an alumnus who graduated summa cum laude and who has been legally blind since birth. The University received another Honorable Mention award for “Luggage Tag,” a printed enrollment brochure.

In 2017, St. John’s Office of Marketing and Communications has received an additional 10 awards from a variety of competitions including the Videographer, dotComm, and Hermes Creative Awards.
