Do you have the next big idea? Enter Pitch Johnny - an idea competition that encourages participants to develop their creativity, persuasive skills, and ability to think on their feet. This competition provides an opportunity for students to showcase their business acumen and pitching skills in a friendly contest setting.

Pitch Johnny Details 

First Round: Submit your pitches!

Students: Submit your pitches by developing a 2 min video pitch & 1 paragraph description of your business idea. All pitches must be submitted via this application link.

Registration Deadline:
Monday, October 30th, 2023 (For both University and High School Students)

Please submit your pitch to the appropriate division that aligns with your idea. The Divisions we offer are as follows:

  • For Profit Division 
  • Not-For-Profit or Social Entrepreneurship Division
    • If the business is a Social Enterprise, it must be submitted to this division, regardless of any other potential qualifications.
  • Creative Storytelling
    • If you have a story to share that could be adopted into a screenplay, submit it to this division.
  • High School Division 

Second Round: Evaluation

Judges to review submissions:
Tuesday, October 31st  – Wednesday, November 8th
 (For both University and High School students)

Contestants will be pre-screened by a team of elite judges (entrepreneurs, faculty, alumni, etc) and they will select the best pitches from each division to move on to the final round.

Third Round: Notice of Advancement

Week of November 13th:
Students will be notified if they have been selected to move on to the final round.

Final Round: Competition

December 2nd, 2023 (For both University and High School Students)
St. Augustine Hall, 2nd floor
*A remote option will be available for High School students

In a format reminiscent of Shark Tank, selected contestants will engage in a live final pitch-off on our Queens Campus. Students will be required to deliver their pitches, live, without the use of video, competing against other participants in their respective divisions. The judging panel will comprise a select group of entrepreneurs, alumni, and faculty members.
