Showing St. John’s Spirit on Game Days

The Office of Human Resources is excited to announce a new opportunity to show our school spirit and cheer on our Men’s and Women’s Basketball teams! All employees are invited to dress down to support our athletes by wearing St. John’s University apparel on days when these teams compete. We encourage everyone to add the Men’s Basketball and Women’s Basketball schedules to your calendars. This way, you can stay updated on game days and be ready to show your support.

Please note, wearing university apparel on Men’s and Women’s Basketball game days is voluntary. Some departments have uniform requirements and may be unable to participate. Employees in those areas should consult with their supervisors to confirm whether dressing down is permitted.

If you choose to dress down on game days, please follow these guidelines:

• Wear St. John’s University apparel: Cheer on our athletes and show your school spirit by wearing St. John’s University gear. The University’s Campus Store is offering up to 30 percent off apparel from November 25–December 2 online only with promo code BLACKFRIDAY24. 
• Follow workplace attire standards: Even when dressing down, appearance should be clean, neat, and appropriate for the workplace.  
• When in doubt, dress professionally: There may be business meetings or events on game days where professional attire is still expected. If you are uncertain whether dressing down is appropriate on a particular game day, ask your supervisor or err on the side of dressing professionally.

Employees interested in attending Men’s Basketball games this season can purchase discounted tickets using these links for Madison Square Garden and Carnesecca Arena games. Employees who purchase discounted tickets for Men’s Basketball games will receive a free St. John’s t-shirt (limit one per employee, while supplies last).
