Campus Activities provides university wide programs that promote school spirit and pride. Through your involvement within Campus Activities, you will not only enjoy your collegiate experience, but you will also develop invaluable organization, communication, and leadership skills. Research says that an involved student is more likely to feel connected to the institution, continue through graduation, meet new friends, and become an effective leader which will add value to your resume. With over 100 student organizations, major programs, and social activities that take place each semester, you will indulge in a vibrant campus life experience.

Ebony J. Calvin serves as the Director of Campus Life. Within her role she advises the programming boards, cultural groups, and religious organizations recognized under Student Government, Inc. located on the Queens campus. She has dedicated over 10 years to advising students leaders and coordinating student activities at the University.

Ebony received her BS in Marketing from SUNY New Paltz and MBA in Executive Leadership from Tobin School of Business at St. John’s University.

Enhance Your Skills

Each month Campus Activities hosts a virtual CORE workshop, facilitated by experts and professionals in a variety of different fields.     Meeting Up

    St. John’s students can gather together virtually and further the bonds they have made in classes and online using their University WebEx account. WebEx is great for meeting with students when you are unable to meet in person.

    Students should visit sju-students.webex.com and register using their @my.stjohns.edu email.

      At St. John’s, there are a number of ways for you to connect and make friends, regardless of where and how you study. These are not limited to, but include:

      • Student orgs: These student-run organizations are for and by students. By joining a club you can make friends, network with like-minded people, and take part in heaps of different activities. You could even join an org’s executive board and develop your leadership and management skills.
      • Multicultural programs: St. John’s has a vibrant range of multicultural supports and activities throughout the year.
      • Social media: Stay up to date with upcoming activities and opportunities by getting involved via @sjuactivities or the St. John’s Now channels on Facebook, Instagram, and Twitter.

        As with all on-campus services, the Fitness Center and Taffner Field House are closed. But Campus Recreation continues to offer a variety of virtual fitness and recreational activities for the St. John’s community!

        The Campus Activities team is committed to fostering a welcoming and inclusive community by hosting innovative and engaging experiences for the entire St. John’s community. As we continue to create and explore new program initiatives, it is our expectation that all Johnnies and patrons who participate in these initiatives familiarize themselves with the Engagement Etiquette guidelines.

        The Student Code of Conduct shall apply to conduct that occurs on University premises, at University-sponsored activities, off-campus conduct and online. Individuals who violate the engagement etiquette rules will be prohibited from participating in future initiatives and referred to the Office of Student Conduct.

        Engagement Etiquette Rules:

        • Participation at your own comfort level and respect of others is encouraged.
        • Bias, Discrimination, or Harassment of any kind is prohibited (HR Policy 704).
        • Swearing, defamation and bullying is strictly banned.
        • Discussions or content featuring illegal activity is forbidden.
        • Posting or sending offensive, inappropriate or objectionable content is prohibited.

        The University encourages every member of the community to report bias. For nonemergency situations, any member of the University community can use the online reporting form available at www.stjohns.edu/reportbias. This form may be completed anonymously, but be sure to include as much information as possible so that the University can respond. Bias reports can also be made to the Office of Human Resources, Equal Opportunity and Compliance, and can be reached at 718-990-1865 (press 4). In the event of an emergency, including but not limited to situations involving violence or threats of violence, please call 911 or the Department of Public Safety.
