The successful applicant will:

  • be a faculty member, administrator, staff member or student who is interested in deepening their commitment to social justice and engaging in community building and healing.
  • be able to serve for at least one year.
  • be available for half-day trainings every other Wednesday from June through August 2021 (the trainings may use a mix of virtual, hybrid, and in-person formats). 
  • possess the ability to communicate across differences to create a collaborative, collegial, and caring campus community.  
  • have an interest and comfortability in facilitating conversations with members of the campus community on the topics of bias, discrimination, and microaggressions.
  • if an employee, have a minimum of one-year, full-time active employment with the University, and have received a satisfactory RED performance evaluation (PW or better) and not be on corrective action.
  • if a student, not have a record of violating the Student Code of Conduct within the past year.

  • Demonstrates an ability to create effective working relationships and inclusion among peers
  • Looks to build knowledge in the areas of social justice, restorative justice, and/or diversity, equity, and inclusion 
  • Supports public and/or academically-oriented endeavors that demonstrate intellectual excellence and commitment to social justice in service, teaching, scholarship, and/or creative activity
  • Possesses strong relationship skills and deals effectively with conflict/displays high levels of emotional intelligence
  • Demonstrates a commitment to speaking up when others are being excluded or treated inappropriately
  • Demonstrates the ability to facilitate discussions among groups and maintain a respectful climate

  4. Selected applicants will be invited to attend the virtual RESPECT meeting on May 7, 2021.
