Student Support for a Loss Self-Isolation Notification Basic Needs Request

For students who need support with food and other essential personal items: We are pleased to announce that we are able to resume receiving requests for assistance through the Basic Needs Info Request form as a result of a successful Giving Tuesday fundraising event. The financial awards provided through this fund are supported by alumni, employees, and other donors to help St. John’s students purchase food and other essential personal items.

For students needing support for the loss or illness of a loved one: COVID-19 has many families suffering from the loss of a loved one or helping to support a seriously ill family member.  We are here to support you please share your information so that we can reach out to you as quickly as possible.

New York State provides a free emotional support hotline in response to COVID-19 at 1-844-863-9314.

During this time, we encourage you to register for Therapy Assistance Online (TAO). Log in with your St. John’s email for guided therapy for stress, anxiety, depression and other concerns.

Student Health Services

Student Health Services is here for you remotely, offering telehealth appointments and other services while the St. John’s is online.

Please seek prompt medical evaluation if you have fever, cough, or shortness of breath. If you have non-emergency questions, please call 718-99-6360 (select menu option 4).

In an emergency, please call 911 or a health care provider. Faculty, administrators, and staff should call their primary care provider.

SOAR (Sexual violence Outreach, Awareness, and Response)

We are still here to help! SOAR staff are working and meeting with students and others by phone and through video conferencing.

If you would like to meet with someone from SOAR, please call the Campus Support Advisor at 718-990-8484. Voicemails will be responded to within two business days. If you need to talk with someone after hours, or for an urgent matter, please call our 24/7 Mental Health Helpline at 718-990-6352.

Health Related Leave of Absence

As students adapt to the challenges presented by COVID-19, the University recognizes that as a result of the physical and mental health difficulties associated with the pandemic some students may request a Health Related Leave Of Absence (HRLOA).

To support our students during this time, the HRLOA Committee is relaxing the requirements for students requesting a HRLOA for the spring 2020 semester.

Disability Services is conducting web-based or phone registration meetings for students who have a new need for accommodations in relation to the online educational environment. We continue to support currently registered students with their approved accommodations or new requests via email check in, phone calls, or video teleconferencing.
