St. John’s offers every student—freshman, international, or transfer—access to competitive academic scholarships and financial assistance. More than 96 percent of St. John's students received over $471 million in financial assistance through scholarships, loans, grants, and work-study programs for the 2015–2016 academic year.

In what has become an annual fall tradition on the Queens, NY, campus, St. John’s University hosted local Catholic high school principals, guidance counselors, and senior University administrators for an appreciation dinner and discussion of shared issues and ideas in secondary and higher education.
