Augusta Sanfilippo

Managing Director, Investment Banking Information Technology – Operations IT, Barclays Int’l

Augusta Sanfilippo has 30 years of investment banking technology experience. She has worked in key financial institutions providing strategic leadership, creating strong partnerships and building innovative global technology solutions as part of large change programmes.  Her efforts have led to significant savings and processing efficiencies for the Global Operations areas, automating front to back trading flows and breaking down silos across organizations.  

Augusta is currently the Global Head of Operations Technology in Barclays International.  She is responsible for all Post trade processing across multiple asset classes including Futures, FX, Cash Securities and OTC.

Prior to joining Barclays, Augusta worked at Citi in a similar capacity, driving the Operations   global settlement strategy, delivering on multiple implementations of Broadridge in the US Cash securities Market.  Ms. Sanfilippo led the retirement of many legacy systems including a 26 year old international operations platform, creating STP efficiencies and millions of dollars of cost savings. Also  responsible for was creating a strategic Reconciliation utility across the investment bank, and implementation of Volcker across all asset classes. Ms. Sanfilippo led areas in RPA, Blockchain and multiple regulatory areas.

Prior to Citi, Augusta was a Managing Director heading up the Global Cash Securities Operations Technology area at Credit Suisse. There, Ms Sanfilippo and her team were awarded the American Financial Technology Award (AFTA- 2006) for "Best Backoffice Technology".  The solution they implemented created a Global Securities Processing Architecture which increased STP and processed over 10mm Equity trades per day. 

Augusta attended St. John’s University where she received a B.S. Degree in Computer Science, a minor in Business Management and an MBA in Finance.  She also holds a “Series 99- Operations Professional Qualification Certification from FINRA.  Augusta has served on the St. John’s College of Professional Services Advisory Board since 2009. Augusta has been a board member of the Womens’ Bond Club since 2013. She is an advocate for the FIRST Robotics nonprofit organization which is focused on inspiring young people to be science and technology leaders and has been judging at the FIRST events for over nine years.  She lives in Long Island with her husband and two children.
