Biology, Bachelor of Science / Master of Science
The Department of Biology offers an intensive, accelerated dual degree program leading to both the B.S. and M.S. degrees in five years of full-time study. Qualified undergraduates who will have completed 60 credits with a 3.0 cumulative index and a 3.5 for 12 credits in Biology are encouraged to apply. Students in the B.S./M.S. program matriculate for a total of 144 credits, 33 of which are on the graduate level. Those electing the thesis option must complete 6 credits of Master’s Research (BIO 900). Students choosing the non-thesis option complete 6 credits of coursework in lieu of BIO 900.

As a graduate with both a bachelor's and master’s degree in Biology from St. John’s University, you’ll be a desirable candidate for employment in research capacities at universities or corporations involved in pharmaceutical, clinical, biological, or biotechnological research. You’ll also be qualified for teaching or managerial positions in these settings.
