Teaching Narratives Symposium
The Office of Online Learning and Services in partnership with the Center for Teaching and Learning hosted the first ever “Teaching Narratives Symposium.” The event was held on May 31, 2018 and brought together St. John’s University faculty, administrators, staff and friends to discuss and share innovative pedagogy.
Some of the highlights included a key note by Lawrence Ragan, Ph.D., Principal Community Aggregator for the Penn State EdTech Network and a plenary speech by Alexandra Pickett, Director for Open, the SUNY Center for Online Teaching Excellence. Plans are already underway for next year’s Teaching Narratives Symposium, tentatively scheduled for May 30, 2019.

Alexandra Pickett is a pioneer in instructional design and faculty development for asynchronous web-based teaching and learning environments. Since 1994, Ms. Pickett has led the development of the instructional design methods, support services, and resources used by SUNY.

Kathleen S. Ives, D.M. is the Online Learning Consortium’s Chief Executive Officer and Executive Director where she oversees the organization’s strategic direction. Additionally, she serves as faculty for the Institute for Emerging Leadership in Online Learning and serves on the EdSurge Advisory Group, the Executive Strategic Council for IMS Global Learning Consortium and on the Leadership Advisory Board for the Center for Learning Innovations & Customized Knowledge Solutions (CLICKS).
