Colleen Carmody, Ed.D., RN, CNS has been recruited to the faculty of St. John’s University as the Senior Associate Dean for Nursing Programs and tenured Associate Professor-Industry Professional in the Clinical Health Professions Department of the College of Pharmacy and Health Sciences. Dr. Carmody arrived at St. John’s University having already established a highly distinguished career in nursing and nursing education. Dr. Carmody recently successfully led the re-accreditation process for the St. Francis College nursing program. Dr. Carmody possesses a forty-year career in nursing that has spanned clinical practice in critical care and pediatrics, seventeen years of service as an officer in the United States of America Air Force, and thirteen years in higher education. She received her Ed.D. in Executive Leadership and Education from St. John Fisher College in 2008 and her Master’s in Nursing as a Clinical Nurse Specialist from the University of Colorado Health Sciences Center in 1997 funded by an Air Force Institute of Technology full scholarship. She obtained her baccalaureate degree in nursing from Niagara University in 1979. Clearly, her career demonstrates a strong commitment to teaching, service, and scholarship. Her areas of teaching and scholarly interest include nursing simulation education, interprofessional education, and disaster preparedness.
