Christopher J. Cleary

Dr. Christopher Cleary is an Associate Professor in the Division of Criminal Justice, Legal Studies, and Homeland Security at St. John’s University. His area of concentration is Homeland Security. Before coming to St. John’s, Mr. Cleary served for over 29 years as a member of the Nassau County Police Department in New York, retiring at the rank of Deputy Chief. He has worked closely with Federal, State, local, and private sector partners on numerous Homeland Security committees. He was Co-chair of the New York State Zone-One Committee on Counter Terrorism, Co-chair of the New York Securing the Cities Source Security Subcommittee and was a member of the N.Y. State Law Enforcement Subcommittee on Intelligence, and the Dept. of Homeland Security Urban Area Security Initiative Committee. He attended the Police Executive Research Forum Senior Management Institute for Police at Boston University, and received a Master of Science degree in Homeland Security Strategies from the United States Naval Postgraduate School and a Ph. D in Criminal Justice from Nova Southeastern University.
