Dr. April Rogers, MD, MPH, MBA, is an Associate Professor and serves as the Program Director for the Health Administration program within the Collins College of Professional Studies, situated in the Division of Health and Human Services at St. John’s University. Her research endeavors are prominently focused on the field of Sleep Medicine, with a specialized emphasis on addressing Health Disparities through the strategic utilization of community-based participatory research methodologies. Her specific area of interest revolves around the intersections of cardiovascular disease, brain health (notably Alzheimer’s Disease and Related Dementias), and various sleep-related issues.
Benefitting from a specialized background in behavioral sleep medicine, Dr. Rogers has extensive experience in designing and implementing effective interventions. Her professional journey is distinctly characterized by active engagement with minoritized communities, a commitment that has provided her with profound insights into their distinctive needs and challenges. Over the course of the past decade, her pursuits have been dedicated to conducting comprehensive sleep screenings and fostering heightened public awareness regarding the widespread implications stemming from untreated sleep disorders within minoritized populations. Noteworthy among her achievements, Dr. Rogers was honored in 2022 with the distinguished Faculty Excellence Award in Community-Based Outcomes by St. John’s University, underscoring her dedication and commitment to making impactful contributions.
