An assistant professor of legal writing, Martin has a J.D. from Georgetown University Law Center and a B.A. from Northwestern University. For the past eight years, she has been an assistant federal public defender in the Eastern District of Virginia, where she has represented indigent defendants in trials, motions, and sentencings. Prior to that, she was a law firm associate focusing on white collar defense. She also clerked for the Hon. Algenon L. Marbley in the United States District Court for the Southern District of Ohio.
