Hannah Berliner Fischthal

Hannah Berliner Fischthal has been a professor at St. John’s University since 2000.  Prior to that she taught at Columbia University, Hofstra University, and Queens College, CUNY.   Her specialty is American Literature, although she teaches a wide variety of courses.    She was a Visiting Scholar at the Center for Jewish History in 2013.   She is an ongoing contributor to the United States Holocaust Memorial Museum’s Encyclopedia of Camps and Ghettos.  (She has received a Commendation from the Ambassador to the Czech Republic for locating another Nazi Forced Labor Camp for Jews.)  In addition, she is an award-winning translator.    She has been an editor of Studies in American Jewish Literature and other publications.  Her essays have appeared in over 25 texts and journals.
