Glenn Gerstner has been a faculty member at St. John’s since 1989 and is proud alumni as well, having graduated from the St. Vincent's College (now the College of Professional Studies) in 1981. He taught for the Division of Administration and Economics until 2006 when he moved to the Division of Sport Management. He served as the Chair of the Division of Sport Management from 2009 to 2016 and at various times served as both the Graduate and Undergraduate Sport Management Program Director. In 2017, he was appointed Associate Dean for Academics and Assessment in the College of Professional Studies.
He is an active member of the North American Association of Sports Economists, the Eastern Economic Association, the Mid-Atlantic Popular Culture Association, and the New York State Economics Association. His research interests are in the areas of tournament theory, the economics of intercollegiate athletics, and sports in popular culture. In 2008, Dr. Gerstner was awarded the St. John’s University Outstanding Faculty Achievement Medal, and was born, raised, and still resides in Long Island, New York.
