Holland Stevenson

B.S. in Biomedical Sciences

Holland Stevenson, a Colorado native, graduated from St. John’s in the spring of 2021 with a B.S. in Biomedical Sciences. She is currently pursuing an MHS (Master of Health Science) degree in Biochemistry and Molecular Biology at Johns Hopkins University’s Bloomberg School of Public Health.

At BSPH, Holland has been investigating not only the sciences behind particular disease states but the social, economic, political, and psychological factors that drive these disease burdens in specific populations. In addition to her degree, Holland will receive the Certificate in Tropical Medicine from BSPH. This area of study has made Holland acutely aware of the healthcare challenges faced by people in low-income countries.

This spring, Holland will be applying to medical school and aiming toward a specialization in gastroenterology and hepatology, while developing her longstanding interests in endocrinology, rheumatology, and oncology.

While at St. John’s, Holland was a member of the University Honors Program which acted as a fount of immense support and resources. She believes that it was through this program that she gained access to the academic challenge that helped her to become the student she is today.  She notes that the UHP also provided her with a community of students whose passions reflected her own. She believes that she would not not be where she is today were it not for the  encouragement that she received from her professors, deans, administrators, and other UHP students.
