On Monday, June 17, 2019, at 11:15 a.m., the Department of Public Safety received a complaint concerning the theft of property from a University employee’s unattended handbag located in the Sullivan Hall Micro Lab. The employee reported the theft of $43, several credit cards, and a driver’s license.
Public Safety conducted an investigation and determined the male pictured below entered the building at 11:10 a.m., removed the handbag from the lab, and entered the first-floor bathroom, where he removed the listed property and left the handbag. After completing the theft, the male then exited the building at 11:16 a.m. The male walked to the garages and exited onto 170th Street and Union Turnpike.
The New York City Police Department is investigating this incident with the assistance of Public Safety. If this male is seen on campus, or if you have any information concerning this incident, please notify Public Safety immediately at 718-990-5252.
Protect your valuables by locking your property (e.g., laptops, wallets, cell phones, handbags, etc.) in a secured location. Never leave personal belongings unattended.
Public Safety reminds the University community to always secure all doors when leaving a room or office. If you observe any type of suspicious activity on or off campus, immediately notify 911 and Public Safety.
