- Academic Center for Equity and Inclusion Spring Events
The Academic Center for Equity and Inclusion (ACEI) is a faculty-led initiative created to address the personal and professional needs of our faculty as they relate to equity and inclusion. To learn more, please visit our website and be sure to check out the collection of inclusive teaching resources and the ACEI Pulse blog, which shares stories of the people and projects that contribute to the work of our center and advance the University’s mission.
Here are a few of this semester’s opportunities to learn together and collaborate.
Please forward to your faculty (full- and part-time).

ReelAbilities Film Festival
The Academic Center for Equity and Inclusion (ACEI) invites the St. John’s University community to participate in the 15th Annual ReelAbilities Film Festival on Monday, May 1, from 5 to 7 p.m.
The festival, organized by the Marlene Meyerson JCC Manhattan, is “the largest festival in the US dedicated to promoting awareness and appreciation of the lives, stories, and artistic expressions of people with disabilities.”
ReelAbilities is renowned for its wide-ranging international film selection, riveting performances, and postscreening conversations. It is presented annually in dozens of venues across the New York metropolitan area. The ACEI Inclusive Climate workgroup has selected a few short films from this year’s festival offerings to create an engaging program that will be relevant to different members of the St. John’s community.
A postscreening discussion will allow us to come together in a conversation to explore and enhance our collective appreciation of diversity and individual differences, and to reflect on how we can support inclusion of people with disabilities in our communities. The event advances the University’s mission and commitment to an inclusive and equitable University community. It will be held in a hybrid format with both in-person and virtual access.
Please register to participate in this opportunity.
The Second Annual Cultural Rhetoric Speaker Series
