Seeking a Cure for ALS, Biological Sciences Professor Earns NIH Grant
Just two years after joining the faculty of St. John’s University, Wan Seok Yang, Ph.D., Assistant Professor of Biological Sciences, is making his mark, having earned his first National Institutes of Health (NIH) grant for research on Amyotrophic Lateral Sclerosis (ALS).

School of Law Graduates Encouraged to Help Less Fortunate
“You have earned the right to be enormously proud of what you’ve accomplished. Today you embark on the noblest of professions with so much promise.” That was the message Hon. Janet DiFiore ’81L, Chief Judge of the Court of Appeals and the State of New York, relayed to graduates during her address at the annual St. John’s University School of Law Commencement Exercises.

St. John’s graduates from a wide variety of class years—many bringing family and friends—returned to the Queens campus on June 2 and 3 to reconnect with alma mater, meet former classmates, and support current students during the University’s Second Annual Grand Alumni Homecoming Weekend (GAHW).
Salute to our Veterans concert fundraises over $1000 to support the Students Veterans Association
The College of Professional Studies in collaboration with the Veterans Success Center conducted the first ever "Salute to our Veterans" concert. The concert featured the musical duo of John Martelli (Gigs) and our very own Assistant Dean Randolph D.J. Ortiz. The event was attended by over 250 people and featured music from the 40s through the 70s. The event was developed as a way to support our student veterans at St. John's. The event fundraised $1,385 which was donated to the Student Veterans Associations of St. John's University.
Cardinal Tagle Honored at Post-Commencement Luncheon
After receiving an honorary degree at the University’s 148th annual Commencement Exercises and addressing the graduating Class of 2018 with a hopeful message encouraging them to always look out for the “missing in society,” His Eminence Luis Antonio Gokim Cardinal Tagle, D.D., S.Th.D, Metropolitan Bishop of Manila, was honored at a celebratory luncheon held at the Queens campus on Sunday, May 20.

St. John's Qualifies Eight Fencers for NCAA Championships
After collecting five medals, including three first place finishes, at the NCAA Northeast Regional this past Sunday, the St. John’s fencing team earned eight qualifiers for the 2017 NCAA Championships to be held at Indiana Farmers Coliseum in Indianapolis from March 23-26 and will be hosted by the University of Notre Dame.
