Behind a goal from Georgetown's Sydney Cummings in the 64th minute, the St. John's women's soccer team fell to the Hoyas, 1-0, in the BIG EAST title game on Sunday afternoon at Corcoran Field.

Following the match, three Johnnies were recognized for their efforts during the BIG EAST Championship, as Katherine TurnerShannon Aviza and Michelle Money all landed a spot on the 2021 BIG EAST All-Tournament Team.

Shots were 9-2 in favor of Georgetown on the afternoon, with the Johnnies and the Hoyas registering two apiece on net.

Neither team managed to muster up much offense in the opening half, as Georgetown's Kaitlyn Parcell recorded the period's first shot nearly 22 minutes into the action. Parcell was denied the chance to break through, as Naya Lipkens came up with the stop for St. John's.

The Hoyas fired off three more attempts in the early stanza but the Red Storm's defense held strong to keep Georgetown without a goal though the first 45 minutes of action.

Coming out of the intermission, Angelina Scoma picked up St. John's first shot of the game in the 49th minute but was denied by the Hoyas' netminder Allie Augur.

Georgetown rattled off three more shots in a span of 68 seconds before Cummings broke through in the 64th minute on the game-winning tally. Ma Fernandez-Powell served up the corner kick which Cummings headed home.

Facing a one-goal deficit with under seven minutes remaining, St. John's saw its best opportunity of the afternoon come in the 84th minute, as Jessica Garziano was inches away from netting the equalizer. The All-BIG EAST Second Team selection sent a shot to the right corner of the cage, but her attempt was stopped by Georgetown's keeper. That would be the Johnnies' final look of the match, as the Hoyas captured the title.
