For the first time in two years, a team of Peter J. Tobin College of Business accounting students from Staten Island finished first in its category at the Beta Alpha Psi, the international accounting and financial information honor society’s, Best Practices Mid-Year Virtual Meeting for the Atlantic Coast Region competition, which was held virtually in March.

The team from the Kappa Zeta chapter of Beta Alpha Psi – Alexandra Baratta, Matthew Bertone, Anna Gaglio, and John Giammarino – will now advance to the national competition in August.

“At this time of COVID, the disconnect we experience in our daily lives due to the pandemic, the students distinguished themselves with their hard work, talent, and ingenuity,” said the team’s advisor, Benjamin R. Silliman, Ed.D., Professor of Accountancy. “They continue to drive our great campus' talent to national recognition.”

Each member of the team will serve on the chapter’s new e-board as of April 29. They will be joining the many Kappa Zeta chapter members who have won these contests for four straight years from 2015 to 2018.
