Leaping 27 spots from the previous year, The Peter J. Tobin College of Business at St. John’s University is now ranked #50 by Poets&Quants in their annual list of the Best Undergraduate Business Schools of 2020.
The 2020 rankings, released in late December, are a fitting culmination to another exciting semester for the entire academic community at the Tobin College of Business.
Norean R. Sharpe, Ph.D., Dean and Joseph H. and Maria C. Schwartz Distinguished Chair at The Peter J. Tobin College of Business, attributes the rise of the undergraduate program in the Poets&Quants ranking to a focus on continuous improvement and successful faculty recruitment.
“Our faculty are now among the most recognized scholars in their disciplines,” she said. “This enables us to recruit stronger students into our program.”
At Tobin, a strategic effort to attract the best high school students from across the country led to an increase of 25 points in the average SAT score for undergraduates entering in the Fall of 2019. With access to faculty who are fully invested in the University’s mission to ensure student success, as well as a committed network of St. John’s alumni spread across the New York metropolitan region, Tobin students are provided access to a wide array of internship opportunities—more than 80 percent of Tobin students have at least one internship before they graduate.
A growing expansion of alumni and corporate partnerships, combined with strong academics and innovative learning inside and outside the classroom, saw members of the graduating class of 2019 earn an average starting salary of approximately $63,000.
The methodology used by Poets&Quants places equal weight on three components of a business program that are critical measures used to determine the quality of the educational experience: admission standards, the full academic experience as judged by recent alumni, and employment outcomes.
