Alumni Enjoy Reconnecting in Florida

March 25, 2019

Alumni and friends of St. John’s throughout Florida rekindled friendships—and fondly recalled their college years—at special events sponsored by the University from March 6 through 17.

“Alumni are extremely proud of their St. John’s roots, and this annual Florida program consistently draws the attention and attendance of our proudest graduates,” said Mark A. Andrews, Director, Office of Alumni Relations.

Events spanned both Floridian coasts and included spring training baseball, golf, evening receptions, and the traditional St. Patrick’s Day weekend festivities in Naples. This year, The McCallen Society hosted two private receptions to thank both McCallen members and those in The Loughlin Society for their commitment and support of alma mater.

“The McCallen Society and Loughlin Society donors really believe in St. John’s mission, and are always very committed and generous,” said Susan M. Damiani ’87CBA, Director of the Office of Gift Planning and The McCallen Society.

“We celebrate their support and encourage others to invest in our students.”

Alumni volunteer to host events and reach out to fellow graduates throughout the year. Special thanks to Robert Silvani ’74TCB, John (’65C) and Pamela Sherry ’67Ed, Barbara and Jack Carew ’59C, Vanna and Harry Beeth ’67CBA, Patricia Guckert, and Valerie Sullivan Pfundstein ’87SVC for serving as hosts and sponsors.

Besides enjoying a recruitment presence in Florida, St. John’s also has more than 5,000 alumni in the state, making it a valuable area to connect with alumni outside of the NY metropolitan area. Preparations are already underway for Florida 2020; this will mark the 10-year anniversary of St. John’s University in the Naples St. Patricks’ Day Parade. Please contact Mark Andrews at 718-990-5897 or [email protected] to serve as a volunteer and for more information.
