The Master of Science in Finance program at The Peter J. Tobin College of Business is now affiliated with the CFA Institute, the governing body of Chartered Financial Analysts.
This affiliation was granted after the Institute determined that the degree program incorporated required knowledge, as well as ethics and standards, into the curriculum.
As a result of this affiliation, Tobin has been awarded 24 scholarships for those who seek to become CFAs. Graduate students and seniors can apply for the scholarships by contacting Mikael C. Bergbrant, Ph.D., Associate Professor of Finance, and the director of the Master of Science in Finance program. Currently, preference is given to candidates in the Applied Finance Institute.
“This is great news for our students,” said Bergbrant. “Pursuing the CFA provides students with additional career options, and can set them apart in job interviews.”
Bergbrant is one of six Tobin faculty members who are also Chartered Financial Analysts. The others are: Vipul K. Bansal, Ph.D., Professor of Finance; Adrian P. Fitzsimons, Ph.D., Associate Dean of Academic Programs and Professor of Accounting; Ronald L. Moy, Ph.D., Associate Professor of Finance; Kevin J. Sun, Ph.D., Associate Professor of Accounting; and K. Matthew Wong, Ph.D., Professor of Finance.
