New Faculty Join St. John’s

2017 New Faculty Book
September 27, 2017

Committed to a culture of student success and academic excellence, St. John’s has expanded its teaching ranks by 40 new faculty appointments across the University’s six schools and colleges.

“It is an honor and a privilege to welcome our new faculty members to St. John’s University,” said Robert A. Mangione ’77P, ’79GP, ’93PD, ’99Ed.D., Provost and Vice President for Academic Affairs. “Each one is an accomplished educator recognized for outstanding scholarly achievements and deep commitment to both teaching and the University’s mission.”

Reflecting its efforts to ensure student success, the University offers a 17:1 student-faculty ratio. In addition, 92 percent of full-time faculty possess a doctorate or other terminal degree in their field.

Over the past three years, hiring new faculty and deans has been a University priority under the leadership of President Conrado “Bobby” Gempesaw, Ph.D. Nearly half of the new faculty are female, and nearly half come from historically underrepresented populations in higher education.
