Board of Governors Welcomes New Members

Four new members have been appointed to St. John’s University’s Board of Governors, which advises President Conrado “Bobby” Gempesaw, Ph.D., and the Board of Trustees on strategic issues and initiatives that affect students, faculty, and resources.

The new appointees have distinguished themselves as successful professionals and supporters of their alma mater. They are James “Jim” W. Christmas ’70CBA, ’10HON; Robert M. Grillo ’90CBA; Sharon Hajjar ’79SVC, ’86P; and Joan Lacagnina ’86SVC, ’88CBA.

  • Mr. Christmas is a retired Director of Petrohawk Energy Corporation. He served on The Peter J. Tobin College of Business Advisory Board and is a 2017 recipient of the Tobin College’s Distinguished Alumni Award.
  • Mr. Grillo is Chief Executive Officer of RMG LLC. He also serves St. John’s as a member of the Lacrosse Team Committee.
  • Ms. Hajjar has completed 17 years as a registered pharmacist. She and her husband, John Hajjar, M.D. ’77C, received the University’s Fidelitas Award in February 2017 and will be recognized at the President’s Dinner in October.
  • Ms. Lacagnina is a recipient of the 2013 Alumni Outstanding Achievement Award. She is Managing Director of Finance and Private Markets Funds at Kohlberg Kravis Roberts & Co. L.P.

The 25-member Board of Governors offers advice and counsel concerning plans, programs, and activities at St. John’s. The Board of Governors also serves as a forum for communications among the University, alumni, and friends.
