November 30, 2016

Elizabeth (Liz) Ciabocchi, Ed.D. (Vice Provost for Digital Learning/Executive Director of Online Learning & Services)  represented St. John’s University at OLC Accelerate 2016, the annual international online learning conference sponsored by the Online Learning Consortium on November 14-18 in Orlando, FL. Ciabocchi, who currently serves on the OLC Board of Directors, led a popular panel presentation entitled, “Can we talk? A frank discussion about gender equity and leadership in online higher education,” with a group of diverse and distinguished higher education professionals including Carl S. Moore (University of the District of Columbia); Lawrence C. Ragan (Penn State University); Gladys Schrynemakers (Medgar Evers College, CUNY), and Deborah Spiro ( Nassau Community College, NY). She also served as an expert panelist for the conference leadership strand town hall meeting, an interactive discussion focused on key trends and topics in online higher education, with colleagues from other major universities including the University of North Carolina, Clemson University, Penn State University and the University of Central Florida. “The OLC Accelerate Conference is one of the largest–and arguably one of the best–online learning conferences in the world,” noted Ciabocchi. “I’m so grateful to Provost Robert A. Mangione, Ed.D., R.Ph., for his ongoing support of my OLC participation and my efforts to promote best practices and effective leadership in the burgeoning field of online higher education.”
