St. John's New TV Talk Show Begins a Second Season

September 14, 2016

After its successful first season run, a talk show hosted by Conrado “Bobby” Gempesaw, Ph.D., President, has been renewed by Telecare Television, which broadcasts Catholic programming.

The series, entitled Sharing Knowledge: Presented by St. John’s University, is slated to begin airing again in late fall. Introduced in February 2016, the program explores contemporary secular and religious issues in society and education. The new season follows the same format, with Dr. Gempesaw engaging panelists and members of the St. John’s community.

Discussions center on higher education issues as well as general subjects of interest to viewers. The first season comprised seven shows exploring topics such as Catholic religious vocations; the future of learning; social justice and the presidential election; SJU athletics; and changing demographics in higher education. In addition to their role as audience members, students participated throughout the season by questioning panelists and serving as University spokespeople at commercial breaks.

Sharing Knowledge is an effective tool for informing and inspiring others,” said Dr. Gempesaw. “It gives St. John’s an additional opportunity to reach the metropolitan area’s large Catholic audience, allowing us to showcase our University’s intellectual capital and facilities.”
