Student Receives Maureen A. Hartigan Scholarship
Congratulations to Lauryn Weigold ’17Ed, 2015 winner of the Maureen A. Hartigan Scholarship! This scholarship was established by Maureen’s three sisters, Anne, Grace, and Katherine, in 1988. The scholarship provides annual partial support to full-time undergraduate students who are sophomores, juniors, or seniors in The School of Education.
Lauryn is a sophomore Childhood Education and English major from Las Vegas, NV. She was on the Dean’s List last year and hopes to keep that streak going for the rest of her college career, as well as the streak of never having a 7:30 a.m. class. In the future, Lauryn would like to join the Peace Corps and teach in another country for a few years, then come back to the United States and live in Portland, OR, as she both loves the rain and wants to make a difference. She would also like to try out for the Amazing Race, bike across America, go to a music festival, and learn how to skate in a roller derby. In her free time, Lauryn likes to make lists, look at cats that are up for adoption, watch her favorite television shows, go “thrifting,” research minimalism, read books, listen to podcasts, and endlessly scroll through Twitter. The School of Education is very proud of you, Lauryn! Keep up the fine work.
