Bayside Senior Center

Due to the global pandemic, and based on the directives of the University's Return to Campus Task Force released in the University’s updated plan for our campus reopening, “Preparing for the Fall Semester, Campus Ministry Vincentian service programs on campus are moving to "virtual formats," Please check back regularly for updated opportunities and efforts that will be offered.

Bayside Senior Center is a program that provides students with the opportunity to spend time with the seniors on a weekly basis. Students offer companionship by engaging in conversation, monthly birthday celebrations, Bingo afternoons, and other dynamic activities such as dancing or playing Wii. Both, students and the seniors gain enriching and positive experiences through connecting with others.  Upon arrival to the site, students receive a short tour of the facilities where they decide which activities to be participate in. Every day, the seniors spend time on the dancing floor and students join them practicing or learning different cultural dance. After spending time playing, dancing, or just conversing with the seniors, the students return to campus.  As with all Vincentian Service experiences led by Campus Ministry, the students conclude the program with a Vincentian reflection.
