Study Abroad Program in Havana, Cuba "Cuba From Within"
Study Abroad Program in
January 4th-15th, 2018
“Cuba from Within”
This intensive academic program gives students a hands-on experience and more accurate knowledge of a country just 90-miles away from the United States yet inaccessible to most U.S. citizens for over half a century. With Pope Francis’ visit to Cuba on September 20, 2015, the re-establishment of diplomatic relations between the neighboring countries, followed by President Obama’s visit to Cuba, all in the same year, things are changing very rapidly both inside the island and in our relationship with it.
The program will examine various aspects of Cuban society today decades after the Cuban Revolution. It will do so through the study of its history and its impact on life and culture today in the arts, literature, music, theatre, and the sciences. The program will include workshops by well-known Cuban scholars on different disciplines, writers, artists, musicians, and field trips to museums, academic and research centers, concerts, the theatre, as well as guided field trips to Pinar del Rio, Matanzas and Varadero.
