New York, NY. The Big Apple. Gotham. You can call it what you want—but we call it home. With two campuses in this great city—in Queens and Manhattan—St. John’s University students have every opportunity to explore and enjoy the greatest city in the world. Here are just a few favorites.

With more than eight million residents, New York is a big city, yet our Queens campus has a small-town, residential feel.

Food for thought. Queens is home to a dizzying array of restaurants. A stone’s throw from campus is Acquista Trattoria, one of our favorite Italian restaurants.

Sweet success. Looking for a sugary treat? Head over to Max & Mina’s ice cream shop, where you can give Fruity Pebbles ice cream or a cotton candy shake a try.

Tennis, anyone? The United States Tennis Association Billie Jean King National Tennis Center, home of the US Open tennis tournament, is located in nearby Flushing Meadows Corona Park.

Let’s go, Mets! Just up the block from the tennis center is Citi Field, home of the New York Mets. Several St. John’s baseball alumni have played for the orange and blue, including John Franco, Frank Viola, and Joe Panik.

Color your world. The Welling Court Mural Project is worth the short trip from campus to Astoria. Featuring more than 140 murals from international artists, this colorful installation was launched in 2010.
Our Staten Island campus is nestled in the lush Grymes Hill section of the borough, and features incredible views of the world-famous Verrazzano-Narrows Bridge.
Two miles to the north of the Staten Island campus is St. George Ferry Terminal, where you can ride the Staten Island Ferry to lower Manhattan for free.
(or at least part of it). St. John’s Manhattan campus is located at Astor Place, in the heart of the East Village.

The world’s most famous arena. St. John’s Men’s Basketball team splits its home games between Carnesecca Arena and Madison Square Garden, giving the team an unparalleled home court advantage.

Go green! Each year, students, faculty, and other members of the St. John’s family march in the St. Patrick’s Day Parade. Don’t miss this opportunity to walk right down the middle of Fifth Avenue and be cheered by thousands of parade-goers.
