The Academic Lecture Series strives to introduce current and relevant topics to the St. John’s community. It is our goal for you to look beyond the face value of issues and to develop individual opinions to expand their knowledge and make a difference.
Past speakers have included Mitch Albom, Nicholas Kristof, Sheryl WuDunn, Common, Wyclef Jean and many more.
Established in the fall 2006, the Academic Lecture Series (ALS) focus on topics relevant to the St. John’s University mission as well as the global society in the fields of science, health care, religion, education, media, technology, politics, business, culture and the arts. The series aims to cultivate academic discourse outside of the classroom and foster a sense of community dedicated to academic excellence and social responsibility.
