Meet our Team Leaders

Andrew Barnes

Team Leader for Healthy Relationships
I have always enjoyed helping others. I feel that being a peer educator has allowed me to become more involved in health awareness while doing what I enjoy. Wellness Peer Educators can teach St. John's students about the importance of living healthy and maintaining stress.

Olivia Jones
Second Year, Major-Government and Politics
Team Leader for Healthy Relationships and Smoking Cessation
I decided to become a peer educator because I love helping people. I wanted to help spread the word that students can maintain healthy habits while in college. The process of educating others requires that I educate myself first. I am personally gaining knowledge about various wellness topics and I am rewarded with sharing my knowledge with others. By participating in our events and programs students can gain valuable wellness tips and learn how to maximize their potential throughout the semester.

Ancy Skaria
Second Year, Major-English
Team Leader for Prescription and OTC Drugs
I decided to be a peer educator because we deal with issues that face students constantly. We think of innovative ways to reach students through our programs and to show students that they do have a department they can look to for help.  I personally enjoy constantly learning information about how to stay well and I love relaying that information to others without just giving them brochures and pamphlets. College students need a break from all the reading!I think students will be able to learn while being entertained! This is a great way to deal with problems that are constantly facing us because it gives solutions and information.

Alexis Stevens
Fourth Year, Major-Psychology
Team Leader for Nutrition and Prescription/OTC
I decided to become a peer educator because I wanted to educate my peers on how to maintain a health lifestyle. I personally get the satisfaction of knowing that I can connect, learn, educate, and hopefully influence my peers to make the right decision when it comes to wellness. This embodies what I hope to achieve in my future career as well.  I think students will gain self-awareness of various issues that impede upon physical and psychological health from participating in our events and programs.
