The most widely used format is the Reverse
Chronological format where your most recent work
experiences are listed first. The less common Skills
Based, or Functional, format is where your accomplishments
are organized into functional groupings that support your
objective, i.e. marketing, management, problem-solving,
etc.
While the Skills Based format is effective when your work
experience is varied and unrelated to your future career goal,
employers may feel as if you're hiding something. When
choosing a format ask yourself if the layout you have chosen is the
best way for you to present your experience, skills and
accomplishments.
