Self Assessment
Experience often has a direct impact on shaping our overall person. At this point in your career development you may find yourself understanding and building on your strengths and talents as they relate to you chosen career path. 

  • Keep testing yourself with new opportunities and challenges both in and out of the classroom.
  • Become a leader in one of the organizations you have joined
  • Consider participating in Discover the World or a semester abroad. International study is a great way to learn more about yourself  

Career Awareness
The economy is ever-changing and has a direct impact on many, if not most, industries. Keep up to date with industry trends and projections to keep yourself and your skill set current.

  • Attend all applicable Career Expos and Fairs employer panels and presentations
  • Continue researching career fields and opportunities Investigate graduate school programs

Career Exploration
Practical experience is considered one of the most best ways to get your “foot in the door” with an employer. Knowledge of the “real world” is another. Use this time to develop both.

  • Contact a COACH, develop a mentor relationship with a professional
  • Obtain career related summer work (internships)
  • Choose elective courses that will help you develop skills (computer, public speaking, language, etc.)
  • Get involved in FREE (Focus on Real Experience and Employment) , JOBS Track 

Job Search
Conducting a job search can be one of the most challenging elements of the career development process. At this point in your career development you will want to focus your search on securing internships and employment (part-time or full-time) related to your career goals. 

  • Attend workshops on interview skills, cover letters and networking
  • Schedule a mock interview at the University Career Services
