Our dedicated team of career professionals is available to meet
with you as you engage in your career development while at St.
John's and plan for your future after graduation.
Each Career Counselor specializes in a particular college and/or
set of majors and can assist you with applying your major to a
career path that is right for you. To schedule an appointment
with your career counselor, contact (718) 990-6375 on the Queens
campus and (718) 390-4438 on the Staten Island campus.
Individual Appointments: For
in-depth issues, you may schedule a 30-minute appointment with your
career counselor. These
appointments could involve choosing your major, developing your
individual career plan, identifying appropriate internship and
experiential opportunities, developing your job search
strategy, and more.
Quick Question Time: Available
during peak times during the semester, these quick sessions are
designed to answer your pressing questions in under 5-minutes.
MOCK Interviews: Available by
appointment only Mock Interviews offer you an opportunity to
practice your interviewing skills in a simulating environment prior
to your first interviews with employers.
Advising Policies &
Procedures
Prepare for Your Appointment: To
recieve the most benefit from your appointment with a counselor we
ask that you:
- Complete your CareerLink
Profile & Log On!
- Do some career exploration on your own
This might include reviewing our Exploring
Majors & Careers area of our website; preparing a draft of
your resume; or bringing along a copy of an internship or job
listing of interest.
Cancellations: We request that you
make every effort to cancel your appointment within 24 hours in
advance.
Lateness Policy for Appointments:
Arriving more than 15 minutes late for a scheduled Individual
Appointment will result in an automatic rescheduling of your
appointment.
Professional Dress: Althought
it is not necessary to dress in a suit for your appointment with a
career counselor, we do recommend that you dress professionally for
MOCK Interviews, networking events, career/internship fairs and
other employer events.
