Dear Alumni,
Did you know that life-long career support is available
for St. John’s alumni? My name is Laura Smith and I am the
Alumni Career Counselor with the Career Center at St. John’s
University. Dedicated to providing career support to our
alumni, the Career Center stands out among other colleges and
universities by having a full-time counselor exclusively devoted to
serving the unique needs of our more seasoned
professionals.
Are you considering a career change? Through
individual meetings, I can assist you with assessing your interests
and goals, evaluating your career options, and implementing a
strategic job search. If you feel uncertain about your career
path, a career assessment is one tool to help you consider
different professions.
The Career Center can also support you in your active job
search. Registering with MonsterTRAK will give you access to
a database of job openings, weekly job e-mails, and access to a
valuable networking tool – the COACH program. I can provide
you with all the details on how to take advantage of these
resources, as well as provide resume and cover letter help,
interviewing tips, and general job search
support.
Who contacts the Career Center? Alumni seeking
support while they make career decisions. Realizing that our
alumni live all over the country and the world, I am available to
meet with you in person, over the phone, or via e-mail. My
office hours are:
Monday, Wednesday, Thursday 8:30 – 4:30
Tuesday 11:30 – 7:00
Friday 8:30 – 3:00
My door is always open and I look forward to meeting
you!
Best Wishes,
Laura E.
