New York, NY - St. John's University's School of Risk Management, Insurance, and Actuarial Science (SRM), an arm of The Tobin College of Business, is presently accepting applications for the 2003 Harold Jackson Scholarship for the study of Ocean Marine Insurance in England.
Established under the will of the late Harold Jackson, former President of Wm. H. McGee and Company, Inc., the scholarship consists of round trip transportation to London, lodging expenses for up to four week's stay in London, payment of tuition and fees for the course of study to be determined by the scholarship recipient, and miscellaneous personal allowance for food and entertainment.
The scholarship is awarded on the basis of successful completion of the AMIM 121 examination prepared and graded by the Insurance Institute of America, a completed application and written report of not more than 1000 words on the following 2-part topic:
I. Briefly explain the following terms as they relate to marine insurance:
- Uberrimae Fidei
- Excuses for Deviation or Delay
- Missing Ship
- Sue and Labor
- Nature of Warranty
- Under-Insurance on Cargo
II. Where a vessel has been insured with the American Institute Hull Clauses (June 2, 1977) (including the attachment of Hull War Risks and Strikes Clauses), is there or is there not coverage for damage arising from a terrorist act? Please cite applicable policy language in support of your position.
