Queens, NY - St. John's University will celebrate Asia Pacific Heritage Month 2004 during the month of April with a series of events organized by several St. John's student groups. The theme of this year's celebration is "One Voice." All scheduled events will take place on the Queens campus, located at 8000 Utopia Parkway, Jamaica, NY.

Asian Pacific American Heritage Month Opening Dinner
Wednesday, March 31
7:30 - 10 p.m., Marillac Terrace
The opening celebration will feature several styles of Asian cuisine. Diane H. Lee, Law '91, independent practitioner of labor and employment law and member of the Asian Women's Christian Association and the Asian American Legal and Defense Fund will be the keynote speaker. This event is free of charge and exclusive to the university community. To reserve a seat please contact Janie Grisanti at 718-990-6258. Due to seating restrictions, we ask that all interested parties RSVP by March 29, 2004. This event is only open to members of the St. John's community, media are welcome to attend/cover.
International Cultural Show Pre-Reception, Showcase Event and After-Party

6:30 p.m. - Midnight, Marillac Auditorium
The Asian cultural groups at St. John's University will come together for a night of Asian-inspired fashion and performances. To reserve tickets in advance please contact Janie Grisanti at 718-990-6258. Admission is $3 for St. John's students with ID and $5 for anyone else who wishes to attend. The show will begin at 7:30 p.m. and will be followed by a post-show party at 10 p.m. in the University Center Commons.
Artie DaSilva and Cami Lee Blood and Bone Marrow Drive

11 a.m. - 7 p.m., Council Hall
Artie is the former Assistant Director of Recreational Sports (1991- 1996), who was diagnosed in May 2003 with a rare and highly aggressive form of blood cancer known as NK (Natural Killer) Cell Leukemia. The Cami Lee Bone Marrow Drive is an event where Asian Pacific Islanders and people of minority races (including mixed-race) are tested as possible donors and educated on the process and patients that benefit from donations.
All proceeds from Asia Pacific American Month 2004 will benefit Asian charities located in the New York City area.
