On March 7, 2012, the Peter J. Tobin College of Business and St.
John’s University’s Office of Alumni Relations welcomed Paul M.
Facella, author of Everything I Know About Business, I Learned at
McDonalds, to share seven leadership principles that guided his
professional success. Starting behind the counter at the age of 16,
Facella established a distinguished 34-year career with McDonald's,
working his way up from crew member to regional vice president.
The discussion explored business strategies including team
synergy, encouraging risk and recognition of model workers that
made McDonald’s one of the most successful food service
organizations in the world. Through stories and first-hand
experiences, Facella revealed how students can apply these key
principles to their own business ventures and future careers.
During his tenure with McDonald’s, Mr. Facella specialized in
sales expansion, franchising, personnel development, site
selection, and team building through managerial mentoring. In so
doing, he has received every major award the corporation has
including The President’s Award, The Freddy Award, two Team Awards,
and The Star Award.
Since leaving McDonald’s, Mr. Facella has established a
successful business consulting group, Inside Management Ltd., with
10 consultants who are actively working with a diverse client
roster, which includes such organizations as Discover Financial,
Sbarro, Horizon Blue Cross/Blue Shield, US Army and Sesame
Workshop.
