The patriotic spring concert was a garibaldino blend of classics
and pop from both worlds, featuring international singing star
Giada Valenti, conducted by Maestro Alan Aurelia and hosted by St.
John’s Vice President for Community Relations Joseph Sciame.
The concert featured performances of great composers, including
Wagner, Verdi, Puccini and Morricone. Pop favorites from America
and Italy were also enjoyed, including Volare and It’s Impossible.
Vocalists Giada Valenti, Tamara Haskin, Salvator Motisi, Tammy
Tyburczy and Arthur Lauter performed with the full orchestra and
filled the Campus Center with powerful music.
The program concluded with a rousing rendition of Irving
Berlin’s God Bless America.
Scaime stated, “Our annual Concerto di Primavera attracts
hundreds of guests and this was special, for it combined the
classic pieces of music in symphony, complimented by some
outstanding singing. It was a most appropriate tribute to
patriotism.”
