Northern New Jersey Alumni Stay Connected to Alma Mater

March 05, 2010

On Tuesday, March 2, 2010, alumni and friends of St. John's University gathered for a Meet and Greet reception and Gamewatch at Redd's Restaurant in Carlstadt, NJ. The event was co-hosted by the Office of Institutional Advancement and the Northern New Jersey Alumni Chapter.

Guests enjoyed a buffet of finger foods and cocktails while watching the Red Storm men's basketball team take on the Orange of Syracuse University on television.

"More and more alumni are settling in New Jersey," noted Nicholas A. Legakis '97SVC, '07MPS, Director, Institutional Advancement, Staten Island campus, "and St. John's wants to make sure that we come to them if they can't make it out to us in Queens and Staten Island. Our alumni chapters have been very involved in hosting events and everyone who attends has a great time meeting up with other alumni from their area."

This was the first event hosted by the Northern New Jersey Alumni Chapter in recent years, and everyone is hoping that this Meet and Greet will be followed by additional gatherings in the months ahead.

"It is always great getting together with my fellow alumni," said Rosanna Mangone '89SVC, "and I'm already looking forward to the next Northern New Jersey gathering."

"To meet with fellow St. John's alumni and rehash our past college experiences was well worth the gathering itself," agreed Andre Emont, R.Ph.'79P, '84GP, Chapter Leader. "There's nothing like good food, friends, laughs and tons of fun after a tough day of work. We should have at least 100 people for each one of these events!"
