The
anticipated rainy forecast was overruled by sunny skies, fall
temperatures and a warm camaraderie among those who attended. Some
who had been unable to attend last year's BBQ were happy to make it
to this highly anticipated event. In addition to a lively
atmosphere, guests savored traditional BBQ favorites including
ribs, baked beans, pulled pork and salads.
"This was a great event,” said Chris Murphy '83C, '85L. “I am so
glad I was able to make it this year. I enjoyed meeting and talking
with many alumni whose names I knew, but had not yet met."
Andrea Papa '88SVC, Associate Director for Student Engagement
& Regional Programs in the Office of Alumni Relations welcomed
guests and, with the assistance of Odeh’s young daughters, awarded
raffle prizes to John Coster '84P, Michael Miggins '72G and Ed
Geiger '80CBA, '88MBA.
Papa also extended the appreciation of the University to Odeh
and his family for hosting the BBQ in their home for a second year.
“These events are fun but they also serve a much more important
purpose,” shared Papa, who was pleased with the turnout. “They are
extremely important to building strong networks among our Chapter
members. Alumni often benefit from a vibrant Chapter network both
personally and professionally.”
As the evening concluded and guests departed, Joy Grubmeyer
'65UC commented, "It was so great to be back for this event, and I
look forward to it again next year."
