Wall Street Journal: St. John’s A Top College in Positive Student Job Outcome

April 08, 2011

When it comes to income and job satisfaction, graduates of St. John’s University — and their parents — enjoy a tremendous “return” on the investment in their undergraduate education, according to a new survey by The Wall Street Journal.

St. John’s also earns high marks as an outstanding “return on investment” in the Bloomberg Business Week’s “Payscale Survey” of 554 colleges and universities whose graduates are top earners.

The Journal survey includes St. John’s among its Top 100 colleges that are “most likely to help students land a job in key careers and professions — areas that are growing, pay well and offer high levels of satisfaction.”

“We wanted to identify the schools that are most likely to help students land a job in key careers and professions,” the Journal declares on the survey’s online site. The Journal surveyed 842 recruiters for “the nation’s largest public and private companies, nonprofit organizations and federal agencies” in varied industries across the country.

“Today’s students and their families are looking for a University that provides an outstanding education that leads to strong positioning in the workplace,” said Kathryn Hutchinson, Ph.D., Vice President for Student Affairs at St. John’s. “Clearly, a St. John’s education provides this foundation and prepares students to make an impact in the global community.”

“Our inclusion in these prestigious lists reflects the exceptional value our students receive in preparation for successful careers,” said Denise Hopkins, Executive Director of St. John’s Career Center. “We offer the same outstanding value to employers by providing a deep pool of high-performing, diverse, career-oriented candidates who possess a strong work ethic.”

St. John’s students enjoy positive employment outcomes through the Career Center’s wide range of services.
