Ethics and Strategy in Global Hospitality

Sharpen your international hospitality skills with continental European practice and earn a certificate from the University of Perugia!

Organized in collaboration with the Hospitality Management program at the University of Perugia, one of Italy's oldest and most renowned institutions of higher education, this program offers students hands-on experience through a one-week boot camp, as well as Certificate in Hospitality Management from the University of Perugia. Learn from experts in the field and experience continental Europe with courses and site visits in and around Perugia and Umbria, then round out the first-week experience with a week at the St. John’s Rome campus for site visits to local businesses and organizations. This experience will provide you with an invaluable, competitive edge as you experience international business policies and visualize leadership principles at work within the Italian hospitality industry in action, with a comparative eye toward American practices. 

Program dates: May 22 – June 2, 2018, following a semester-long course in Queens

Courses:

  • Undergraduate Course: HMT 1055: Global Leadership in Hospitality Management.  This course takes place during the Spring 2018 semester on the Queens campus with video link to Staten Island, MR 10:40am-12:05pm.

Faculty Director:
Almerinda Forte, Ph.D., fortea@stjohns.edu

Dr. Almerinda Forte is a Full Professor and Chairperson for the Hospitality Management Program within the Division of Administration and Economics at St. John’s University.  She received her Ph.D. from New York University and is fluent in Italian.  Dr. Forte has presented papers at several business ethics conferences and international business conferences and has published several articles in the “Journal of Business Ethics,” “International Business and Economics Research Journal,” “Journal of Diversity Management,” “Journal of International Education Research” and in “Contemporary Issues in Business Ethics”.  In addition to teaching, she was awarded a Senior Specialist Fulbright at Rome University and has been appointed a Vincentian Research Fellow.  Dr. Forte brings to the classroom her experience from numerous companies, including Merrill Lynch, Pierce, Fenner and Smith and The New York State Society of CPAs.
