Digital Ecology and Mobilization of People

Beijing & Sanya, China

From the visual arts to the philosophical treatises of Confucius, Chinese history and culture have had sustained and profound impacts on Western arts, literature, and technology. With a civilization dating back more than 5,000 years, China today wields enormous influence as a rising global power. Through St. John’s, graduate students in International Communication will have the opportunity to spend two weeks during the Winter Intersession to explore Beijing and Hainan, China, in collaboration with St. John's new partner institution, Sanya University. The program will immerse students into modern China with an eye toward its historic sites and institutions.
